2025 Plans - contd
The second one shot for 2025 is a fun pirate caper entitled “Too Many Heads” with sea battles, treasure-hunting and some new twists.
Game length: 3.5 - 4 hrs
Short description of game: Seafaring, pirates, adventure, introduction, terrain, miniatures
Inclusive, welcoming, rule of cool, pregenerated characters
Pirate Captain Four-Ears O'Grady is always capable of finding an argument - often with himself! Now your crew is trying to handle even more contradictory orders than usual, Gorgo the Parrot still needs feeding and there are enemy sails on the horizon to worry about.
Join Colin (DM Owlbear) at the helm of the galleon Full Moon as the longsuffering pirate crew of a less than inspiring leader - who nonetheless has an uncanny nose for gold! Can you retrieve treasure from undersea lairs and then avoid losing it to rival crews? A beginner friendly, not too serious bout of D&D adventure on the high seas, with pirates, parrots and way too many heads...
2025 Plans
2025 is hopefully going to be building out from the great time I had in 2024 – I’m keen to cement and develop my convention games, to play in more places and countries, and to set up a longform online campaign. And to do that I need some more adventures written up, play tested and ultimately published.
Starting from that angle – two more D&D one-shots are on the stocks –
First up is a loose sequel to 2024’s ‘Delivering the Goods’ (now available on DM’s Guild), and is an outdoor environments/chase/mystery adventure with some more ‘Big on Terrain’ style scenes with the working title “Abduction at the Red Falcon Inn” (and a really great new monster I’m very excited to showcase).
Game length: 3.5 - 4 hrs
Short description of game: When your friend suddenly goes missing how will you react? Where have they gone? Who has taken them? And importantly...Why?
Colin (DM Owlbear) presents a mystery/chase adventure with all sorts of obstacles along the way. Expect adventuring across the countryside as you piece together the mysterious kidnapping... Designed to be beginner/newbie friendly from the outset, this adventure is supported by ready made characters for you to adopt, with everything you need provided so you can just jump in and play!
2024 Reflections
Great Games shops of 2024 – as always a huge thanks to my local FLGSs – esp Northumbrian Tin Soldier and Midlam Miniatures, now joined by Bay Games. And travelling this year I’ve found Sandbox in Cork, Gamers World in Dublin, Element Games in Stockport, revisited Fan Boy Three in Manchester, and I feel like there are even more I’ve missed out…
Great Games of 2024 – besides D&D, I’ve loved playing Harmonies, 7 Wonders, Ticket to Ride Legacy, Takenoko, Sagrada, Bristol 1350, Blood on the Clocktower (thanks to York Board Gaming Convention for the latter!)
